Moving In

Tomorrow is the day that we will finally be able to move into our rooms! I'm so excited and will be taking lots of before and after pictures of my classroom. Stay tuned! :)

Quarter Lesson Planner

Today I've been working on my first quarter for one of my classes. I am long term planning what I need to do by using our syllabus located at here. I am using a planner that I found on the internet. I can't link to the site because I did not save it, but it can be found here.

My first 3 weeks of this course are Standard AF 1.2 which says SWBAT (Students will be able to) use order of operations to solve algebraic equations. I will need to introduce integers (to prepare for the next unit), introduce exponents, and introduce PEMDAS (please excuse my dear aunt sally).

I also need to remember that the first 3-4 days will be introductions to our brand new school, syllabus introduction, interactive notebook creating and introduction, and pre-testing (including multiplication facts). I feel like one thing I know the kids often forget are their multiplication facts. I want to do a daily mad minute on multiplication to get these kids to remember most, if not all of their facts. If they don't know their facts, passing the CAHSEE is near impossible.

Welcome to my blog

Today I decided to start my first blog. I've never blogged before, but I have been surfing the net today looking for tons of ideas for my new classroom.

My name is Elissa and I am moving from an Elementary 4-6 classroom to a High School Math classroom. I teach SDC: M/M (Mild/Moderate) which includes children with many different disability levels.

For the past few weeks, I have been buying TE's for myself on Amazon (my district doesn't have any extras for our brand new school right now) and researching high school SDC math. I've also cleaned up our SDC IEP files to make them all brand spanking new! Today I decided to research different interactive math notebooks.

Over the next few weeks before school starts, I plan on creating things and posting them up on here to share ideas.

Thank you so much for viewing my blog!
